The Slanty Shanty Strikes (two weeks ago)

Remember that I live in a place with slanted floors?
Two weeks ago, I was getting something out of my dresser, I turned around to talk to Bourla, and the dresser literally fell on me. (Note: I literally mean literally here. See this page for clarification).

Now I was standing up at the time directly in front of the dresser, so I ended up supporting it on my back Jean Valjean-style. Everything went flying across the room and Bourla started cracking up but, luckily, nothing was broken (which I attribute to my extreme strength [which can be confirmed by viewing me here, on what is sure to be my first of many book cover solos]).

Even though I emerged from the incident unscathed, I nevertheless found a new-found respect for the Slanty Shanty. (Yeah, that's right, I found a new-found respect.)

P.S. Entirely unrelated note: I went to bed last night at 5:00pm, after working 30 consecutive hours, and didn't wake up until 8:00am this morning. Awesome.

Fucking cockroach

I've been at work late all week because I have two huge programs to finish up for tomorrow, which means that I'll be here all night tonight. Oh joy.

About 10 minutes ago, I was sitting here working on this shitty convoluted C++ code when a cockroach fucking crawled right up my pantaloons.
And it made it well past the sock line but (thank you jesus) not up to the underwear line.

I think I'll tuck my pants into my socks, not unlike this guy.

I later crushed the cockroach.

London Bound!

Alright! My first trip to our London office is going down in two weeks on April 18th. I'm very excited, because I love to fly and I love to travel. The last time I flew was down to New Orleans for Jazz Fest last May.

I haven't been to London for almost five years and am looking forward to it.

OrcSync and Moving - I've been super busy.

This past week at work could best be summed up as "sucky." I had to fix a bug in this production software, which meant that I ended up working 45 hours monday through WEDNESDAY - I still had Thursday and Friday to go. It sucked.

Then, on Saturday, Bourla and I got to steal a good bit of his parents belongings - two couches, a chair, dining room table, a Fender Rhodes (in the context of our music room), a bass guitar (and two amps), amongst other assets.

Unfortunately, however, I marred the afternoon with a minor, but annoying, mistake: hitting Bourla's parents' landscaper's truck with the Budget rent-a-truck we were using. The damage wasn't much, but I sure am glad we got the zero-deductible insurance (When we got that, which cost like 19 dollars, I told the guy at the rental place, "If anything happens, we're going to hit someone." Too bad I was right.)

P.S. In case you can't tell, I'm really excited about the Rhodes and have already played it for hours. NICE! I like!
